First batch of digital archives of the National Park of Virunga repatriated to ICCN

In July 2010, Dr.François Muhashy, scientific assistant at the Royal Belgian Institut for Natural Sciences, handed over the first batch of the digital archives of the National Park of Virunga to Pasteur Cosma WILUNGULA BALONGELWA, Administrateur Délégué Général of the "Congolese Institut for Nature Conservation" (ICCN).

This first batch contains over 36.000 digitalised photos and books that are part of the archives. The information will be used to help the management of the national park as well as for the research of the biodiversity and vegetation changes over time in the park.
